Trees for Teesdale, which is run entirely by volunteers, has been set up to try and encourage and facilitate the planting of trees in villages in Teesdale. In the recent gales we lost several mature trees which are an important part of our local landscape. In addition, especially along field boundaries, most of the existing trees have nothing to replace them when they reach old age.

Trees for Teesdale will carry out fund raising, keep the financial records, and organise materials for individual work-parties in the villages involved. These work parties will establish where trees are required, and carry out the Planting of trees with the protection they require. This protection can range from simple tree guard and stake, to fencing around the tree (see DEDICATIONS section), through to fully stock-proof cages (see CAGES section). All necessary training will be provided by Trees for Teesdale.

If you would like more information, would like some trees planted and live in a parish where we have a working party (see GROUPS section), or think you would be interested in helping plant trees in your village, please email info@treesforteesdale.org.uk
